Immigration reform platform
Priorities we bring to immigration-law reform — legalization, family unity, due process, and an end to criminalization.
What we prioritize
-
Legalization and pathways to citizenship
-
Equal rights for lawful permanent residents
Visa holders should have the same rights and protections as U.S. citizens. They are part of the national economy.
-
Family reunification
Preserve all existing family categories.
-
Stop deportations and terminate E-Verify
-
Due process and a right to counsel
-
No criminalization of migration
No detention centers, no ankle monitors, no militarization of the border, and no funding a border wall.
-
Increase U-visas and family visas
-
Stop using the word “alien”
Root causes
Immigrants’ countries must be able to tax and regulate international corporations based in the U.S. and Europe that extract resources from those countries. That would put historically marginalized countries in control of their own resources and help them address the economic crises that drive people to the United States.
Close the gap between the rich and the rest of the world, including the value of labor and taxes on the 1% to fund public education.
